Can anyone reccomend from recent experience a good brand/model of digital/freeview TV tuner either PCI or USB (around £30) ?

I have an old analogue Huppage WinTV PCI card into which I’ve plugged a redundant digi box. It works well but I think this will be the last MoBo I will be able to use it on. The old PCI card format is virtually on its last legs & new MotherBoards are going over PCI-E X 16. I don’t think it will be long before PCI disappears completely so a PCI Tuner card may have a limited life. As far as I'm aware USB TV tuners require USB2 & will not work on legacy USB 1.1 so check what you have.

I have a Hauppage and would NOT reccomend it.

The instructions are incomprehensible and the EPG is useless.

For those reasons I hardly ever use it.

Third party software is easily and freely available if you don't like what's supplied. The hardware is fine.

Monkeh, have'nt used it for couple of years, lost interest.

I did try other software but could'nt make it work.

Could you recommend any software and how you them work together.

Thanks

Nova-TD 500 by any chance? Those can be fun.

I use ProgDVB with some success. It's.. a little ugly, somewhat difficult to initially set up, but once it's going it works fine. I've never used the EPG, though.
