I am told that it is possible to adjust the TV volume to a 'hotel setting' so that the volume cannot be raised above a pre set maximum.
Can anyone tell me if this is easy to do, or is it a service agent type job.
The TV is quite new Panasonic TX-26LXD80

Not seen anything on instructions for my TV.
But years ago I know TV's used in hotels were different to those used at home and a home TV would not work in Hotel aerial socket and a Hotel TV would not work at home.
I assumed the TV's were more like monitors than TV's not sure if to stop people stealing TV's or if to allow the monitoring of channels so they can charge you extra for films etc.
I would love some level control so I am not woken up each time the adverts come on.
They use to have it on old cassette players but no real point in having a sound system that removes all the crescendos and also be stereo HiFi one defeats the other.
I got a 5.1 something to go with TV and give better sound quality but if set loud enough to hear dialogue I can still hear it in all the bedrooms but with TV's own speakers I would assume lower quality the sound does not travel as far and I can hear it well enough in living room and not in bedrooms so at night I never use HiFi speakers.
People take degrees in sound broadcast so there must be a lot to learn!

howardthomas, assuming you have just brought the tv, and you have it and i dont, what do the instructions say?

I managed to access the hotel setup screen on an oldish Grundig 21" CRT while attempting to find a suitable IR code with a universal remote - you could give that a go?

There was no mention in the manual of such.

Phoned the panasonic help line. The young person I spoke to didn't seem to know what I was talking about to begin with, but she was able to to offload the problem by giving me the addresses of nearby service centres.
And yes, of course I have RTFM.

I would expect all tv's are capable of having the volume set to a max limit.
This would be a factory set up option.
