Hi,

1) We had an old back boiler in our dining room which was replaced this summer with a condensing conventional boiler. My understanding is that because we had a back boiler we had to have a fairly large vent, now the back boiler has gone can I place insulating material within the vent to stop the drafts?

2) I've just laid some of this in a gap we had in the attic loft space

It mentions on the packet about being careful with covering electrical wires, how careful do you have to be as previous insulation i can see in places covers wires?

Thank you

Should be ok in the loft as it's low amp lighting supply, but lift cable above insulation where possible. The back boiler vent is not especially large , I have just removed one from my daughters property and will be leaving it open for good ventilation.Always a mistake to make a house draft free as it promotes mold.

Hi,

OK thanks - there are other air vents, its thats this one is 6" square with no 'slider' to affect the amount of air coming in. From a gas safety point of view is it ok to block?

Thanks

You risk a damp chimney if moisture gets in there, which is very likely.
