****ty life

I would accept the flat mate, you will make it work for you I am sure. You have more security with a council flat than in private shared accomodation. Even if you lost your job the rent would be covered in benefits. One less worry?
No, I have too much in savings. I think there is a max amount you can have before they will look at benefit payments.

OMG whats the worry then?
Well, I can easily pay for living there until I retire (5 years) if I left my job. Of which, I can see happening due to health issues.....

I just want to make sure I leave a nice inheritance for my daughter when I turn my toes (paws) up!! I don't want to keep dipping into it. If needs must, I will though...

Living in the flat, I will definitely have to dip into my savings every month to help pay the bills etc...

Give her it now mate and keep enough for you to get by on.

I've just read up a little on the subject, and even if you are over the limit, you are able to get some help - the amount of help is just gradually reduced, depending on how much over the limit you are.

You could live a long time. I don't see the advantage of giving it away now.
I dont want or plan to live a long time.

As long as I got enough to get by I will be happy. I am more concerned in making sure my daughter has a good head start in life.

I am 62 in August. 5 years before I get my state pension. For me, that's enough to live on. I know, some will think that's mad. All depends on one's lifestyle etc etc....

You're a top guy.

But I wouldn't rush into giving it away.
