Hi, can anyone enlighten me please. My supervisor seems to think that you cannot have overload protection devices which have different maximum psc ratings i.e 6Ka Type B and 10Ka type C, fitted in a distribution board together. Is this true? if so is there a reg to back this up?

Talking out of his Ar$£ although the correct breaker must be fitted for the circuit it is protecting with regard to safety and functionality.
Although the breaker must be able to clear a short circuit fault, back up protection is normally provided by the primary device.

The type has nothing to do with their maximum breaking capacity, that is to do with the tripping characteristic.
As long as the lowest rated breaking capacity device is higher than the maximum prospective fault current or it has sufficient backup protection it is fine.

Cheers for your views, I had to ask! He is a Qualified supervisor for the company i work for and refused to co sign my installation certificate because i used both types. I think he is just being awkward with me!

Ask him to provide official documentation to back up his decision not to sign. That should be good.
