Being able to live until you are 70'000+ years old would be a boon. If only they made spaceships to last a wee bit longer....
or less than 6,000 years based on the fastest object in our solar system. its also the heaviest.

25,300,000,000,000 miles = interstellar (nearest star)
70,0000 years according to nosenout.

Nothing of any mass can go fast enough to do it quicker - concludes nosenout.

Currently the sun is orbiting the milky way at 500,000 mph, I think we can conclude that if something with the biggest mass in our solar system can do 500,000 mph, its not impossible.

Not I.

I did? When?

What I will say is that with our current rate of development, it would take a million years to come up with a coherent strategy to be in a position to leave our SS. The distances are far too great for humans. Space is far too hostile. It's not going to happen.

500'000mph relative to what?

I am sure that science, with the help of NHI will develop a way to travel way beyond our Universe etc in the future. I am not talking about the speed of light.

There may very well be other possibilities that are beyond our understanding at this present moment...

Yes, I agree, but I also think there will be natural limitations, forever.

Do you think that, one day in the future, everything will become possible? I don't think so. Can I prove it? Of course not.

I can and have, proffessor hawkins says we can

Anything is possible

Indeed there may.

I think a lot of people see space travel as the next natural step in human exploration. But without considering the enormous complexities, distances, logistics involved, in the most hostile environment known to man. The simplest of tasks become a laborious chore in space. Humans need food and water. They need energy. They need these things for tens of thousands thousands of years in a freezing cold vacuum.

It's not happening.

They could live off each other, I once saw a film about it, when one died they all ate that person .

Just like when people said that it was impossible to travel to the moon?

That it is impossible to give a person a new heart?

Etc etc etc.....

Never say never i say. Who knows what advances in science will develop in years to come.
