As an aside, anyone who thinks we should have zero immigration is as best misinformed.

However, as we keep saying, what we need is controlled immigration. Oh, and a MUCH more effective system of dealing with those who come in illegally.

I still don't think Labour fully realises the depth of frustration and anger across much of the electorate when it comes to things like the small boats. It's fine to spout stats e.g. 'they only account for a very small percentage of the overall numbers' when are they going to realise it's the optics of it all that doesn't play well.

As for Jim's comments, I suppose one could assert we are being gradually colonised, however I struggle to see that even with the numbers we see coming in. And if we are being colonised, maybe it's karma?

It used to be said the Norse replaced the indigenous Britons when they invaded but subsequent research into archaeological discoveries, and the advances in dna testing, reveal the story isn't so straightforward. Thier migration was forced by a need for farmland which the British Isles had in abundance compared to Norway, for instance, and modern migrants are looking for similar opportunities, albeit in an urban cityscape.

There is no research to suggest they're looking to 'replace' anybody.

Trouble is, certain ethnicities don’t integrate. They form their own little colonies and push others out. That pysses people off.

A 'think-tank' can come up with whatever conclusion you want it to, depending on the opinions of those 'experts' in said 'think-tank'. I saw it all the time when I was working in the charity education business.
