UK Policy of tackling covid through herd immunity

Riot police in ireland are getting ready.
Thousands laid off work and no pay indefinitely.
And no money.
21000 ex health workers in Ireland have volunteered to help when the surge in Coronavirus cases arrive.
They are carrying out 15000 tests per day, in contrast to N. Ireland where they are only in the low hundreds when it comes to testing.
If there is going to be trouble its more than likely to be in N. Ireland.

Well done on both counts.

The herd immunity seems to have become clearer and seems to be along the lines of what I posted earlier - those infected and recovered are of use later on 'cause they think they will be immune for some period. This came out via the 3's talk about the test that shows people have had it. Of use later on. That seems to based on someone having the correct antibodies to combat the virus. One producer also sees it as useful test to check if people have it. Sounds like it isn't going to be rolled out but might be how they get to 250,000 tests. Seems that was mentioned very recently.

Did they deliberately allow it to spread ? Not sure because actions taken were influenced by other factors that insured it would spread as it has in all countries.

UK as I see it - London may be Italy's north. This may result in the same actions as Italy have taken in the next weeks. Near 1/2 the tested cases are there. If it stays like that the effects in the rest of the UK will be a lot less - by the look of it. The ones tested seem to be just those who end up in hospital.

Be interested to see if China gets another outbreak now controls have been replaced. Reports suggest they are prepared for that. All will need to be.

"Almost every other country adopted a “suppression” strategy, so the UK policy would inevitably have led to many more deaths in the first wave. Killing your population faster than France, Italy, Germany and South Korea might be the right strategy, but it was not politically sustainable. The policy was not time consistent and decent economists could, and did, predict it would fail. These policy choices have had consequences.

To the rest of the world, the UK has looked arrogant and incompetent, a toxic mix. Sterling is suffering a steep fall as a result. The U-turns have shorn ministers and their scientific advisers of credibility. If people do not believe the prime minister will be able to do what he says and achieve results, public confidence will be lost at the most important time."

Unbelievable that some people will blame the Chinese.
We eat weird **** too.
Prawns, squid, scampi, pigs, chickens - theses are all pretty weird in some people's eyes.

Besides, these markets have been around for thousands of years.

Viruses happen. We have to learn how to live and survive through them, not blame foreigners for being different. The next one might start in a Bernard Matthews turkey factory.
Its not quite the same is it?
The meat we eat is from domesticated animals subject to health regulations.
The problem is that in parts of China there is an illegal trade in wildlife for food and quack medicine.
These Wildlife markets are supposed to be illegal but the Chinese don't enforce their own laws.
In these markets they keep animals in insanitary conditions, you have essentially wild animals which don't normally come into contact with each other stacked in cages pooing on each other, this creates a mixing bowl for all sorts of viruses.
The ancient Chinese texts caution against the eating of wildlife because you don't know what sort of disease they could be carrying.
The Chinese and other Asian countries need to be ostracised until they crack down hard on the illegal trade in wildlife.

Just because the French and Krauts ect do. Something why do we have to adopt the same policy?

Prawns? Oysters? Lobster? Snails? Woodcock? Grouse? Wild boar? Plovers eggs? Hill venison?

You'll notice that the less farmed creatures tend to be eaten by the well-heeled.

Game birds... bush meat.

Trump is being a posterior hole. It's a Chinese virus yet he allowed it into his country just like the rest have. Trump is in a curious position. His people did only buy American cars and many other things. Then came the Japanese. Later came the EU and just to cap that aeroplanes were bought as well - best available world wide. Then China start producing high quality mobile phones and get ahead on 5G and now have manufacturing might well ahead of his where in any case lots of USA imports come from.

;) God knows what he thinks about Russia at the moment. They are why we are seeing reduced fuel prices. Geees the EU even buy it and gas of them - can't have that so ship some gas from the USA - yes ship not run it through pipes.

His threat - do what I want or I'll cause you all sorts of financial grief.

There was a mutter very recently that the UK's borrowing costs have gone up significantly largely because the financial markets want USD so the BofE lower interest rates and offer bonds and there is no interest in them and the drop doesn't have any effect. Companies don't want loans as they know they may have to repay them. No income so when they do prices will have to go up to cover them and it may take a long time for things to fully recover. So if labour is shed only keep a small core if this direction is followed but it may make more sense to just dispose of everything and start up again when things settle.

Well the Italian lock. Down is not working

41000 cases and rising

3000 snuffed it

Some doctor expert says it is out of control and they are going ti be over whelmed
