Ukraine counter offensive

If they are so effective why doesn't the EU send a couple thousand of them to Ukraine and end the war in Ukraines favour.

It looks like it is the perfect tank after all for this war cf. Abrams and Leopard.

Looks like trump is likely to sell out the Ukrainians ???

Some dirty deal with poo tin is afoot ;)
Unfortunately that is how the world works.
Of course if Putin rejects Trumps deal , things could change and Trump could send more support to Ukraine to force Putin to accept it.

I think there are only about two hundred in existence. But I take your point about Europe doing more.
Europe is going to have to do more. I don't think USA under trump is a very secure ally

It's fairly obvious trump is going to weaken NATO, directly or indirectly as his next action.

Europe was always seen as the eastern defence of USA, he is looking at a more isolationist position I think.

Europe , and therefore UK is not in a strong position against Russia right now.

And Trumpsters will probably tell us this is a good thing. As they will when we get shafted over tariffs.

I think he wants other wealthy countries to step up and not expect the US to pay for their defence.

When you look at the numbers. He has a point.

I’m totally against the idea of Ukraine conceding territory however. Russia will just come back for more and more.

Two hundred or two thousand tanks will not be enough to secure a 1,000km border with Russia, especially when America withdraws their patriot missiles and a substantial amount of funding. The EU should step up, but will not be able to match a tenth of what will be necessary, especially as Ukraine will not be a NATO member after the war.

This war has been a major testing ground for drone combat. It's shaping how future wars will be played out. Hence why many countries have sent "advisers" there to gather information.

The two super powers are carving up the country without even involving Zellenski. Trumpf is much more likely to withdraw aid than increase it, whatever the outcome. He wants out. Europe needs to step up its support.

The US is paying for its own defence, if Europe falls America is more vulnerable. That was the whole point of defence strategy after WW2.

Looking at this another way :

'Murca could just stop spending as much on defence as they do - approaching a TRILLION DOLLARS p. a. now - which could be used as a "call my bluff".
(Side note, but why does the US need to spend that amount anyway? To keep the military - industrial complex happy and on side, is the reality of it).

By telling "allies" to up their spend, Orangina is basically forcing them to improve 'murca' s balance of trade figures (as a huge amount of both kit and maintenance is yank anyway).

Can you imagine the fat tw@t's reaction if their "allies" just bought the extra kit from China?

I am fine with that as long as it is phased in. To just stop would be incredibly irresponsible. My main problem with Trump as regards this issue, is his unpredictability. Defence is one area where you need a reliable and trustworthy partner.

But if USA do turn inwards it will damage them in the long term.
