Hi we are having a new kitchen fitted in a couple of weeks and on dismantling the under cabinet lights Which work from the mains to a switch then from a junction box to a transformer I found the switch was wired with just the live wire split between the switch is this ok or should I have it altered.
Thanks.

Light switches are single pole -they only switch the live.

As EFLI says -your house switches will be the same, although confusingly the wires connecting to them are possibly 1 red and 1 black if its an olderish house. (They should be both red, as both wires are the live -one coming down from the radial citcuit in the ceiling and the one from the switch going up to the light).
