Undercoat okay?

I've rubbed down an old varnished chair and primed it, and under coated it (white). I'm now ready for the topcoat (pale blue).

The wife now wants me to de-stress it once I've got the top coat on; just rub it back to the wood in places, and back to the undercoat in some other places.

My question; is it okay to have the undercoat showing through or should I use a white top coat before the final pale blue, so I will be finally exposing a white top coat rather than the white undercoat?

Many thanks.

Nah. Just rub it back on the areas that would naturally get the most wear and you'll be fine.

Make sure you hide her trousers in the future.
