hi all, i am about to lay a new solid oak floor in my lounge. The floor construction is suspended timber floor, house was built in 1936.

At the moment i have laminate flooring laid on top of fibre boards, i was thinking (as i have some left over from another project) of laying double sided bubble foil insulation directly over the original timber floorboards and then relaying the fibre boards on top as underlay for the wood floor.

Can any experts out there advise if this would work or should i go out and buy some new stuff? If you feel i should buy some new stuff, any recommendation would be appreciated.

Also, could do with some views on how to fit the flooring, floating with glue on the edges or nailed?

many thanks for your time.
