Please be gentle with an old guy. I can wipe a joint on a lead pipe and coper is no problem but today I was trying to separate some 15mm and 22mm Speedfit fittings. I fitted them about 8 years ago and am making some changes.
Is there a nack to getting these to separate? I tried pushing the ring as far as possilbe but the pipe was still firmly stuck in the fitting. I resorted to unscrewing the cover completely and taking the fitting apart. I've not risked using any of those fittings again.
How should I get them apart?

If its genuine JG Speedfit......the collet should push completely up against the fitting, and then it can be pulled from the pipe - maybe the O ring has stuck itself to the copper, or the fitting barbs have gripped well?
Of course, some of them have a screwed collet!
John :)

Some have push collars, some push collar and lock with screw thread, the cheapest kind can only be dismantled to remove pipe.
There are copper push-fit which require various types of "KEY" to remove.

On jg speedfit you need to twist the fitting 1/4 turn to allow you to push the collet fully down then pull. But as others have said sometimes the o ring sticks to the copper

Plastic or copper pipe?

Because I've seen a 'ring' of crud on the end of copper pipe on push fits, which could make it difficult to remove.

The barbs have done their job well! Personally I'd dismantle the fitting just to save the pipe but if you intend to continue with new Speedfit, the plastic pipe shouldn't have any scores on it at all, ideally.
John :)

If they are these types then 1/2 unscrew the end collar, you need to do this before the outer grab ring will push in and release the pipe.
