I was not sure which forum to put this in, but think it's this one!. Everytime it rains heavily my front room develops a smell a bit like dog wee. The house is about 100 years old and has a small extension built on to the front room (the smell is always worse in this area). I have put acrypol over the lead flashing to seal any cracks where water could come in although there is no evidence of this happening. Could it be the plaster in the older part of the room?. Any suggestions please? Thanks in advance.

Do you have an air brick?, the smell could be coming from outside.

It`s the ghost of a dead incontinent dog....or thereis a lack of ventilation and no concrete oversite/damp membrane

No there isn't an airbrick as far as I know and yes I have do have a dog, two in fact but it definintely isn't them!!. I'm not sure about the membrane or damp course however I have a nice little chappie coming next week to look at the extension with regard to installing cavity wall insulation. I am hoping he may be able to shed some light on this. Thank you all for your suggestions :)

Don`t hold your breath...just because the guy pumps stuff into walls don`t mean he`s a builder, or even interested in buildings  Caveat Emptor ;)
