Units of measurement and a female!

Went to a window showroom on Fri to ask for a price for a replacement sealed unit.

"What size do you need" asked this woman behid a desk

"About 440 x 550. I've not removed the beads so don't know the exact dimensions" I said

"What's that in? Inches, cm?" she replied

FFS!!!!!! 440 inches is some 36-odd feet.

Thats because women have been confused by men for generations by telling them 6 inches is the same as a foot.

Seriously though I think she just wanted to make sure. I'd much rather have that than the other person get it totally wrong.
