I might have added, to contrast myself with John ....In view of that, he has a very 'good reputation' in many/most people's eyes, but therein lies my main concern. He has these personal opinions (with which not everyone would agree) about 'junk' etc., about the 'need' to utilise the newest-fangled of what technology is available (and seems to 'buy in' to arguments that there is a 'need' for them) etc. etc. and presents those opinions as 'assertions' which, coupled with his reputation, undoubtedly make many people believe those opinions to be undisputed facts and/or 'regulatory requirements'.
He will commonly make assertions which are statements of his personal opinions/beliefs, in a manner which (in combination with his 'very good reputation') I imagine results in many people believing that is he is stating undisputed (and universally agreed) 'facts' -i.e. he will often write things along the lines of "the situation is X" or "you should do Y"
In contrast, if you look at my posts, I very often give a clear indication that I am expressing my own opinions/beliefs and/or will acknowledge my 'fallibility'. Hence, I will very often preface my statements with things like "I think that...", "My belief is that ....", "It is my understanding that..." - and I not infrequently add something in parenthesis such as "(but I may be wrong"). By so doing, I hope that I do not cause readers to believe that what I have written is necessarily the 'undisputed gospel truth'.
