View media item 32378the photos are rom an extension/alteration to a house oppisite my workmates home View media item 32379 View media item 32380 View media item 32381 View media item 32382 View media item 32383 View media item 32384 View media item 32385the house is being done up by the owner who intends to live in it afterwards.
basically you are looking at a pair of semis, the r/h one is occupied and our genius is altering the l/h one.all of the roof work has been carried out w/o any type of scaffolding used for access/safety but the main point is have a closer look at the back corner of the house
the walls supporting the wall plate and rafters have been removed leaving that corner of the roof unsupported and hanging in midair
i can honestly say i have never seen fook all like it,ever
the white house on the left is owned by a builder and the genius asked him how he should cut the roof trusses. the builder said what does your drawings show and his reply was, what drawings?
the genius has two polish lads working for him on £30 a shift, each i think
ive seen this job every day this week and i still cant believe what im looking at

probably because building control will/are making visits.its at the footings stage, i think and that is why those walls are down.he has,nt used scaffolding or props of some sort because that costs and so far hes got away with it. i say visits but i dont even know if its passed planning permission or B.C.
i would bet money his building soceity are not aware of the work and there are no extra insurances covering the work.
i live 30 miles from here and i pick up my mate every morning and we just shake our heads. the neighbours on each side, one an experienced builder , have,nt voiced any concerns as yet.
if the builder can,t see potential problems i.e. subsidence later on , drain problems from slipshod work blocking his drains then who are we to interfere?

Because it could be downright dangerous! Its not about being nosey its about public safety. I'd have no qualms about shopping them. Some people need to be saved from themselves.

terence with an attitude like yours it is no surprise the country is in the state it is in.

You should inform BC as it is your civic duty to do so, or are you too lazy to find their number and ring them? Shame on you.

take it easy, it is not my street, i cant poke my nose in where it may not be wanted, this isnt a gas appliance where i have individual/resposibility or control over it.
if you two keyboard warriors want to discover why our country is in a bad way take a visit to the houses of parliment or watch a TV programme called jamies school where the decline in standards called easily be seen and more worryingly no solution can be seen to arrest the decline

ok i have phoned the B.C. at solihull council and informed them of my concerns, they have an application for foe na extension at the address and the back office/inspectors have received the message and they are going to make an inspection.
i still find it unbelieveable that a builder lives next door in the white house, married with his children in the house, and my workmate who speaks to him daily says he is doing nothing.
the photos dont do justice to how bad that roof looks

Dirty Snitch! :P

Its nothing to do with standards in the country its about stopping a wall falling on a postman's head or whatever.

the only people who are likely to be hurt are the poor saps under it or the most casual builder in the west midlands

If it does fall down, I'd be concerned for the next door neighbour through the wall. I'd be surprised if this neighbour hasn't already complained.

Snitch — Great photos; very interesting.

But owing to your snitching, we are not likely to see even more interesting developments.

true stoday but not for those reasons. nothing has changed at the job except for the walls coming up from the ground which means the brickies are working directly underneath the overhang.they must feel comfortable about it.odd eh?
if any one from solihull council have paid a visit then nothing has changed because of the visit.i see this job every day and just shake my head in amazement

I feel like I need an update on this...

I stop by this thread every so often and hope to see a few new pictures! :D

i see the job every day as i collect and drop my mate off .
the roofs are on and tiled as of last friday.
oddly enoughy the lad i work with got a letter off solihull metropolitan borough asking if he had any objections to the proposed extension
i will have to carry my camera and update you visually
hope this makes sense as i have just come in from an amateur boxing show in brum in a certain condition but i think i wont have any trouble sleeping night all
