Unsure how to rewire new light fitting

Hi all

Thanks for your time to read this.

I want to replace a kitchen light fixture with a new one. The new light has your typical N,L & Earth connection block as shown in the photo.

The current wires are as shown with two 2 core cables (no earth) connected to two individual terminal blocks.

The new light must be earthed as it is metal.

Any advice on how to wire the new light would be much appreciated!

I'm unsure, I'll check tonight though.

There is a ceiling void with insulating wool.

If you can pull through enough slack you can check that there is an earth in the cable. Use it directly

Not enough slack - then use a junction box in the loft space
