The plumber who installed an un-vented cylinder for us subcontracted the job to another installer without our knowledge.

It was not certified and the work was substandard and didn't comply with the building regulations. The guy we contracted with originally fired the fitter and sent someone else to rectify the work. He didn't certify it either.

We cant get the original contractor back to complete the benchmark certificate to certify that the work complies with building regs despite lots of requests. British Gas wont add the cylinder to our home care agreement without it.

What can we do?? Any advice appreciated please

I suspect the original contractor does not hold the leagally required G.3 certificate and therefore cannot pass off the job, as the install is clearly lacking in compliance, it is unlikely that anyone would be willing to pass it off thereby taking responsibillity for it so perhaps legal action against the original contractor for the costs of getting a bone fida contreactor to remove the installation and re-install in strict compliance with required regulations and notify the install to LABC ;)
