I have been following the discussion between a certain tw*t and the belief that unvented cylinders can cause explosions.

I have just come across his pictures to prove his argument that these are a danger to person and property and i would say that these are very much true to form. The appliances pictured are dangerous but you should be fully informed.

The Person/a that is giving this impression is highly uniformed and is googling a term as opposed to understanding what the difference is between a term used across nations.

If anyone wants an explanation to what the tw*t is on about please ask and i will try to explain.

Jon

Thats at 0241 hrs.

Is your employer expecting you at work at 0800 hrs tomorrow?

Why is it just you and me (yourself and I depending on who is reading) left at this time of night?

Is this uniform a military style uniform, or that of a monk perhaps? I think we should be told.

Unvented Cylinders can be a time bomb if not installed correctly.

As long as all the safety cut out devices, the T&P Valve and any PRV's are all in working order, and you have a 12 monthly service, then you have nothing to worry about.

Thats true but the examples that we are being shown are from the US and these are normally gas fired water heaters such as Andrews and Lochinvars. The only explosion that i can see that comes from a faulty safety device is because it had been capped off!

As the previous post said provided annual services are carried out by qualified engineers then all should be fine

Service only proves it is working at that time what happens a week a month later is another thing

The mythbusters gang got one to explode (or to be most exact take off like a rocket) in a recent programme. But they did have to disable all the safety features before it happened.

Very impressive when it did go off

How will I ever sleep

My 250l unvented may go boooooooooooommmmmm

If the boiler stat fails together with cylinder stat and high limit, or the 2 port fails open calling for heat, if the T&P fails at the same time and the system continues to heat and the pressure goes a little above 16bar and no joint fails anywhere WTF  I'd better rip it out and fit a heat bank.

yeah but waht if someone throws a grenade through your window

There is also people who would have laughed a couple years back and said , dont be so stupid how could a faulty immersion heater stat kill someone as they slept in there bed

but surely there was abit more to it than just the sudden failure of the immersion. must have been warining signs?
