UNVENTED CYLINDERS ARE A TIME BOMB!!!!!

There is also people who would have laughed a couple years back and said , dont be so stupid how could a faulty immersion heater stat kill someone as they slept in there bed

You're actually missing the point  vented cylinders can and do kill people yet are claimed to be perfectly safe, not a single Unvented cylinder has done that.

So your in your bed fast asleep after night on the town , are the warning signs going to wake you up, Or if the person is deaf
Also because something may not have happened does not mean the possibility of it happening are zero.
It would not be by any chance that the examples given of unvented exploding come from USA is purely because they have far more of them than us and so the chances of seeing one explode go up 100 fold

but surely there was abit more to it than just the sudden failure of the immersion. must have been warining signs?

This was a thermostat fused in the on position if I remember correctly - all Unventeds' have fail-safe stats, which whilst not perfect are better than nothing.

Unvented cylinders are indeed dangerous but if serviced properly no more so than cars, buses, boilers etc.,

Uhm, that's not quite true, faulty vented cylinders/controls have lead to CWS filling with boiler water then collapsing which has resulted in people being killed.
We were called to house last year where a young child's bedroom ceiling was brought by a cistern splitting due to faulty boiler stat.

Vented cylinders have exploded too, but BB makes no mention of that.
