Hi,
The existing sealant around our garage door (metal frame on to masonry) has become brittle and is failing/pulling away from the frame so I want to replace it.

I guess that the sealant is the original stuff from when the house was built so coming up to 20 years now, what would be the best type of sealant/mastic to use please? given that the garage door/frame may well need to be painted in future, so debating whether to go for acrylic or silicone.

Thanks

Hi Rubble2, I’ve used bostick pointing mortar in the past really easy to use nice finish and looks a treat when painted. Never had a comeback since I started with it, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and it is your home. Hope this helps.
