(up to) £40k golden goodbye for asylum seekers.

The small boats started in earnest after security was increased in Calais. More than 2 years before Dublin agreement was ended
Yes, the 'route' was blocked, so the asylum seekers found a different route.
That will continue ad infinitum. You can't stop it by putting obstacles in the way.
You must remove the motivation to migrate, or create a motivation to not migrate.
If people are content to live where they are in peace and security, the number of asylum seekers would be reduced dramatically.
Of course there might still be economic migration and 'explorers'.
But economic migration is beneficial.
And the spirit of 'explorers' was held in high esteem in historical folklore. (I'm happy to discuss those two points in a separate thread.).

It will make positive differences.

All the people they work with will find out more about them.

They will have names, and not be just indistinguishable members of a group.

The people they work with will become known to them, and not be to them just indistinguishable members of a group.

They'll start to feel like they have a stake in being part of society.

They will start to integrate.
Thank you. I should have said "allowing them to work will have no negative effect whatsoever".

Isn't it tacit acknowledgement by the government that they are not asylum seekers but economic migrant chancers? And that being the case why doesn't the government simply boot them out anyway?
That's more or less what I was saying.
About 80% of asylum applications are successful. Therefore they are asylum seekers.
How can you, either of you, miles away from the 'action', possibly have a fair assessment of who, or who isn't a genuine asylum seeker.
It's pure supposition based on your prejudice and nothing more.

"Blah, blah, blah" OK I made that up, but that was the principle.
Good for you admitting that your arguments are 'made up' scenarios, and not based on reality.

The cash was/is a bribe not to try to do that.
The cash offer is an incentive for, and only for, failed asylum seekers to return voluntarily. It's probably a fraction of what it costs to persuade the country of their origin to accept them back.

It happens. My mother had a carer from dark Africa somewhere,
Is Africa permanently dark?

who didn't want the job and he was useless, but he said he had to take it - in broken English.
What was the situation that he was obviously a recent immigrant but could hardly speak English, and was forced to work?
Perhaps he was a failed asylum seeker, who had to work to fund his voluntary return to his country of origin, because the government had refused any assistance for him, but wouldn't pay for his return. Instead they left him destitute in UK.

He said he had to try a job for a bit then he could go back on the dole.
So he was in UK legally with a visa that allowed him to work, but he could hardly speak English?
This story sounds like another of your fairy stories, that you made up.
OK I made that up,

You live(d) in France, n'est ce pas? What's the minimum wage there?
Don't you know how to use google?

Is she a racist like you?

Good idea, was it, making him do the job?

The "training" to be a carer is negligible. The woman who comes to do some housework for me did the training, and was disgusted.
The pay is about the same as the supermarket delivery drivers'. £12 an hour or so.
Half the time they're caring for people who've soiled their clothes, or the bed. Ugh, we need robots for that!

Well we don't have those.

Nope.

You're wrong. The small boats started in earnest after security was increased in Calais. More than 2 years before Dublin agreement was ended
Nope.
Small boat arrivals in the UK increased significantly after the UK formally left the Dublin III Regulation at the end of the Brexit transition period (December 31, 2020). While significant numbers of small boat crossings began appearing in 2018–2019, they rose dramatically after the UK lost automatic access to the EU's returns mechanism, making it much harder to return asylum seekers to the first EU country they entered

Hindsight is wonderful... the DIYNOT nutters denied that small boats were landing here initially and called it a conspiracy theory.

Spain, Australia, New Zealand?
So they'd take £10k, and set up in another country that allows them to buy citizenship for £10k.
Or they'd use the £10k for what exactly?
Would any of those countries accept the offer of £10k to buy citizenship?
Take Spain, how could they legally reside in Spain for 5 years to be entitled to Spanish citizenship?
Take Australia, Many applicants would not make the grade on skillset, nor English language literacy, nor Criminal record check, HWM would fail on his violent criminal record.
Take NZ, Similar criteria applies for NZ.
The days of assisted passage to antipodea are long gone.
£10k in Australia might get you 3 or 4 months rent. for an apartment. Or 5 months in shared rooms.

I dunno, Think on....
You don't know, but you suggest I should think more about it?
It was your knee jerk suggestion, so you need to think on.
Even better, think before you speak.

Did they?
Or is this one of your fantasies?
Show us where or who denied the small boats were landing?

Who said just 10k? If I sold up I'd have a lot more than that and so would most Brits, the 40k for my family might give me the push I needed to get out of here.....I'll say again Think on.....

If you think an extra £40k is a large enough amount to tip the balance in emigrating, then you're mistaken.
The average price of a house in Australia is near £500,000. In NZ it's over £400,000.
That's nearing twice the average price of a house in UK.,
It'll cost over £5k to ship your personal belongings to Australia. That's not including source collection and end delivery, nor any import charges.
