I’ve just got into upcycling furniture using Annie Sloan and Rust-Oleum chalk paint then waxing, I’m very new to this and although I’m happy with my results I’m not 100% happy owing to the following reasons.
When I get a piece of furniture I prep it properly it rub it down, wash etc etc then put the first coat of paint down with with a good quality brush it for big areas a roller, the problems start when I put the second coat down the paint tends to thicken up and and dosnt go down smooth as I would like, this happens with both brands of paint, another problem I have is the wax I have watched YouTube videos of it being done work on a small area, use sparingly but tend to get an uneven effect where parts are shiny where I buff and parts are dull.
So a little help really, am I using the right paint the right wax ???

Help appreciated

Thankyou
