Thanks for all previous comments

I took the battery back to the supplier for a second go at getting a replacement and this time they agreed and swapped it for a new one.
Just another question though, as previously mentioned don't use the car that much so thinking of just connecting battery when I want to use the car.
Will that help prevent the battery draining
and is it ok to just disconnect the earth cable only or should I disconnect both?
Thnks

The (reasonably new) battery in my mother's 2006 Ford Focus was going a bit flat when it was left for months at a time. I connected a motorcycle trickle charger and had no further problems. I put it on a timer for a couple of hours per day IIRC.

I would consider a trickle charge but keep the car in a garage so obviously not going to work but thanks

As long as your battery has been disconnected it will be fine to only charge it every six months

Just don't let the battery go flat , lead acid batteries hate being flat and you will kill it if you do
