Upstairs airbrick causes penetrating damp?

Dear all

I am worried about the seeming damp around an upstairs back bedroom air brick.

It looks like maybe the water is coming through it.

is there any way I can solve the problem without closing up the air brick?

An "observation?"

Given that the damp patch surrounds the air vent and more importantly seems to come down from the roof over the room and indeed the air brick may?? not be the source of the ingress??

As I see it?? if the air brick was the ingress point, the damp patch will be below the air brick??
