I have just purchased a new UPVC front door. Can it be fitted into the old wooden opening or do I need to get a PVC door frame?

all the ones i have seen require upvc door frame as the door seals to the frame, not to mention the locking mechanism

if its a full pvc door it needs to be in a matching frame because both the frame and the door have overlaps rather than the normal rebate you get with wooden doors and frames
the hinges are also pivoting and fixed to a different point[the face on upvc]

if it looks like a normal door in shape [wooden core with plastic cladding] you can probably fit it to a normal door frame of the right size by shooting it in in the normal way
