uPVC Fascia nails

Am going to fit new 18mm uPVC fascia and have bought 65mm long pol nails 3mm diameter. Do I need to put a pilot hole on uPVC fascia and rafter for these nails or can they be driven straight in.

You can just nail them straight in.

Go easy when nailing home as you can indent the upvc and it looks terrible.

Is there a way to ensure they go in straight?

Small gentle taps till it goes through the facia, hit the nails square on as the polytops tend to come off and its a bugger trying to get the nails out.

Would a 2mm pilot hole in fascia help.

Wouldnt do any harm if it makes you more comfortable.
Look out for freezing weather when doing the installation as the upvc is more susceptible to cracking.
