Hi, I am in the process of having my kitchen floor replaced. When the old flooring was taken up it exposed damp from the concrete. It was also not level.
It is a kitchen floor with concrete underneath.
As such the floor installer has applied self leveling liquid and let that dry afterwards he came to install what I thought was a liquid DPM.
It turns out what he has put down is
Roof Pro Flexypol One Coat Roof Repair Sealer
Or on B&Q they call it
Roof Pro Black Roofing waterproofer, 2.5L
I was told this cost around £100, I got suspicious this price seemed high so did some digging and found out this product.
I'm seriously worried that this has been applied to my floor.
He is planning to come back tomorrow to install a click down laminate flooring after around 48hr drying time (although was originally planning to come today which would have only been 24 hours! Apparently the drying time is 48-72 hours).
Checking this product it says that it is for roofs only.
I have no idea why he would use a product designed for roofs only on my kitchen floor, but I want to ask is it safe/okay to go ahead with the installation of the LVT, and will this be effective in preventing the damp problem I was having on the kitchen floor? It does say it's waterproof so maybe it can help?!
I'm not trying to have problems in the future but I'm really fed up now and just want this ordeal to be over.
Also does £100 sound reasonable for this product and a cheap roller/bucket to apply it, seems like this product is like £30 for 2.5L and then maybe another £10 for the roller to apply. Maybe £50 is okay but saying it cost £100 seems excessive when I was specifically told I was paying for materials directly on this rather than paying for the whole job, I guess petrol etc to fetch it but £100 just seems like I'm being taken advantage of.
