According to BBC's Jeremy Bowen, all that has happened after thousands of deaths and increases in prices around the world, all they have achieved is to have gone back to how things were the day before they attacked Iran. What a fukup.

Trump as brought Iran to the negotiating table, something no prebious U.S. president has achieved (leastways, not with serious intent on striking a deal from the Iranians).

What has he achieved? Making the world a safer place and cementing his reputation for global peace.

I get that was his intention but badly acted out

Irans economy is is dire straits

There military has been significantly depleted

There bomb programme has been set back by years

A good few of the mad mullers have been bumped off ( good riddance to bad rubbish )

Regime change ??

US had very few casulties

They were at the negotiating table when Trump started the war. Now they are just back at the same negotiating table. Complete waste of lives just to go back to square 1.

Could be better, maybe. Other than that I'll wait and see where we are in 60 days. Nuke wise it's already surpassed the Obama deal, the usual suspects seem to ignore the fact that most of the Obama deal was riddled with 'sunset clauses' where conditions expired after 8-10 years (deal was signed in 2015), inspections were hampered and stockpiles were limited to 300 kilos at below 4% enrichment, they currently stand at 440 kilos at 60% enrichment, that one single measure is a good indication of how successful the Obama deal was.

Israel will be in a difficult position regarding Hezbollah, if Hezbollah do as they're told and stop launching rockets/drones at Israel the ceasefire might hold.
I hear a lot about Israel launching unprovoked attacks on Lebanon but very little about the fact Hezbollah have launched over 8000 rockets into Israel since October 7th 2023 and 70,000 Israelis have been evacuated and displaced from their homes, how is this not provocation? why are Israel 'not allowed' to respond.

Israel isn't at war with Lebanon, they are at war with Hezbollah who are an Iranian backed terror group occupying Lebanon. Why aren't other countries coming to the aid of Lebanon and helping them get their country back?

Since 1995, five presidents and multiple vice presidents and presidential candidates had promised to end Iran’s nuclear program by any means necessary.

“Iran’s appetite for acquiring and developing nuclear weapons and the missiles to deliver them has only grown larger,” Bill Clinton claimed in 1995. “We have tried to stop its quest to acquire weapons of mass destruction, which would make it a threat not only to its neighbors but to the entire region and the world.”

“For the sake of peace, the world must not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon,” George W. Bush declared.

“America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal,” Barack Obama promised.

“Here is my message to Iran’s leaders, the United States will never allow you to acquire a nuclear weapon. As president, I will take whatever action is necessary to protect the
United States and our allies,” Hillary Clinton assured.

“We will not let Iran acquire a nuclear weapon. Period. Period. End of discussion. It will not happen on our watch,” Joe Biden assured.

“Let me be clear, we will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. Period,” Kamala Harris said.

Nearly every serious contender for the White House had promised to take out Iran’s nuclear arsenal, so why the outrage at that old promise actually being fulfilled?

Much like moving the embassy to Jerusalem, many politicians of both parties promised to do it without either meaning or it being determined enough to do it.

Their outrage then as now is performative and hypocritical.

The end of sanctions will leave Iran hugely better off. They now have control of the Hormuz straight and I expect them to start charging a toll as part of the longer term settlement.

Iran is now more belligerent, the IGRC is in more control of the country (that's a bad thing).

There is nothing better now than before the war, remember the negotiators had offered to down blend their nuclear material before the war.
