Can you use a juntion box to extend a socket cable. My sockets are 3ft above ground and i want to move them down a foot or so. Can i use a juntion box to extend the cable (no give in the cable) or do i need to take the wire back to the box?

Thanks

Yes as long as the junction boxes are accesible. But you'd be better off crimping them and taping the crimps with self-amalgamating tape or heat shrink.

When you say there is no give in the cable, do you mean the cables come down from the ceiling?

yes they come from the ceiling, this is the ground floor.

I hope your doing the joint in the ceiling and not in the wall (just a thought based on another post)

If the junction box is going in the ceiling it should be accessible for inspection. However if you use a 32amp JB and instead of using the screw terminals inside you use crimp terminals to join the cables thats OK.

You will need a ratched crimper and some 2.5mm blue thru crimps

So in summary your just using the JB to house your crimp joint. There are other ways to join the cable but the above is simple
