Used Combi Boiler help please

Just a thought here:

But doesn't GSR state you must not fit second hand gas parts unless they are certified as in correct working order/spec ( granted in a gobbledygook manner like! )

Surely a second hand boiler is classed as a gas fitting?? Who's ceryifying this boiler and its components are correct?? I know I for one WOULD not put my name against and old boiler ripped out and fitted elsewhere..

i think this has been discussed before, if fitting a used boiler you would still have to commission it, there is no real difference to that and any other installed boiler you work on, they are both used at the end of the day.

There is a set preocedure to test and locate a defect. If a boiler is blowing fuses, that is the best situation to be in as location of defect is a matter of location any fool with one arm and failing sight should have no difficulty with.

The first thing ANY heating so called engineer MUST verify is that the supply fuse is NO MORE than 3 amps. Often 13amp fuse fitted kills the system as weak ling (that a fuse is) is not weak in this instant, more like a six inch nail to supply loads of current to kill the appliance in a fault condition.

Check the Gas Safe card the operative carries.

Blowinging you system components means he has to fix what he has damaged. You should have a claim against the earlier one as well for misdiagnosing the fault.

Wish I could collect £10.00 each time a 'heating engineer' says a new PCB is required when it is not. I would not have to work
