When using an extractor fan in a bathroom it seems a 3 pole isolator needs to be installed usually above the door frame..........why?

It just is.

I suppose most electricians make sure it's outside the bathroom.

Somehow it looks less unsightly above a door rather than on a large area of wall.

Hang on.

Are you asking why does a three pole switch have to be used; or are you asking why is it usually above the door??

The point of the fan switch is to isolate it for maintenance.

To isolate, why not turn the breaker off n lock it off?

Yeah, the position seems a tad potty, it would be a bit more subtle if it was on the ceiling near the fan

Fans go wrong. You can isolate it and carry on using the lighting.

The cables are in the ceiling.
You can put it wherever you want, within reason.

Do you think so?
