I would like to use a brand new Texecom Odyssey X-BE illuminated bell box as a temporary dummy/deterrent (until I get round to installing a completely new alarm next summer)

One of these...

I have an existing faulty alarm control box, disconnected from internal sounders that still supplies power to the cable high on the wall outside so I was hoping to simply use the +12 and 0 to power up this illuminated box. I will probably disconnect the sounder in the bell box though before fitting.

I am assuming that it will be fine but before I go too far, can anyone offer comment on whether it will work and I can end up with a backlit illuminated bell box on the wall by simply connecting the two power wires and possibly setting the links accordingly?
Many Thanks
