The piping I've used is all plastic, and when I've come to run the tail pipes up through the floor for each end of the radiator I've noticed that the superseal inserts are 1-2mm smaller in diameter than the copper, there is no friction whatsoever, it is completely loose. Why is this when JG superseals are supposed to be compatible with copper pipe ?

I could use plastic all the way but would like to make use of a 1m length of copper I have. Please help

But the copper is connecting to jg 15mm plastic elbow, so nothing is needed? No olive either ?

But do give a tug on the copper after inserting it to the fitting to help the teeth bite into the copper otherwise it could slide out!

Don't try using push fit on chromed copper though!

You don't need the inserts for copper, and there is no need to use copper to connect to the radiator either - plastic can connect straight in to the radiator valve.

There are 2 types of inserts as well - those with rubber rings are for use with plastic pipe into plastic fittings, the plain inserts with no rubber are used for plastic pipe into metal compression fittings, and copper pipe requires no inserts at all.

No one else has mentioned it so I will. If you are using copper in push fit fittings, make sure you cut it with a pipe cutter and not a hacksaw. the sharp edges from a sawn end will damage the o ring and cause leaks.
