Hi,

Just moved into a rented house and the Valiant VCW GB boiler keeps cutting out after a) 1 hour of heating or b) running a hot bath (which it can manage but then it switches itself off). I have to wait approx 3 hours before it will reset, and then get 1 hour of heating or one hot bath out of it before it kaputs. The landlady said she didn't have any problems with it prior to us moving in and got her builder mate to come and look at it, but admitted he didn't have a clue about plumbing, but that old boilers turn themselves off. It's not like we haven't had boilers before and know we should get more use out of it before it goes on strike.

Thinking of getting someone in to look at it, but wondered if there are any Valiant boiler gurus out there?

Cheers

Michelle

Sounds like its overheating. That boiler, although excellent, is now somewhat old and is probably due for replacement. Also not all parts are available now.
It needs an engineer to look at it first though, could be something as simple as low system pressure.
