I have used mechanically fixed insulated plaster board in some rooms I have renovated to good effect.
However, I did not use any sort of vapour barrier and unsure if I should have done.
The external walls are what I believe is solid brick - that is, two courses of 100mm brick with a few centimetres in between.
I am now starting to work on another room where I plan to put in panelling.
Should I batten the wall and put in rock wool or solid insulation? It is my understanding that solid insulation prevents more heat transfer vs the equivalent thickness of rockwool.
Should I put a vapour barrier behind the battens ?
I also need some cable drops for plug sockets, should these go in front or behind the insulation? If I use rockwool I could easily clip the cables down the battens. With solid insulation, I could drop the cable down the wall and then put some capping over the top? This will be a 16amp radial circuit on 2.5mm T+E.
