Hello all
got the above van
started to hear some really bad grinding coming from the back coming going coming going.
anyway had enough today jacked up the back took the wheel off and started spinning the drum. it was grinding really bad.
took the screw out and took the drum off and loads of stuff fell out springs and some bolts and the breakpads looked very loose
any how walked to the garage and booked it in for tommorow
he was saying somthing about the lining and drum may need replacing.
i also thought i might as well get new pads in both the backs.
any idea of the price im looking at
thanks
Lee

Lee, its a fairly common thing for the brake shoe lining material to part company with the shoe, causing the nonsense you have found.
Obviously you'll need new shoes - probably the drum will be ok, but that depends if its worn outside of the manufacturers limits.
Say £40 for the shoes, and 1 hour per side to put them back together again.....tops.
Ask for an estimate!
John :)

Thanks burnerman
just wanted to get a ruff idea so i could get the money ready
have to admit driving down the road sounding like a train was disturbing
Thanks
Lee

No worries mate ;)
Don't automatically accept new drums - the brake performance can be tested with the old ones, and yep, both sides need to be done.

Cheers for the update, Lee ;)
its amazing how many vehicles there are out there with broken springs, that don't show up until MOT time.
