Its compatible but it might not like the kit your using, some cars are funny with diagnostics and only work with certain machines.
Book a slot with a garage that specialises in Bosch diagnostics.....they'll have a number of machines that will be able to communicate with yours......much better than chancing your own purchases, I think. (I've found that to my cost 
- bought a scanner that 'must work'......does it hell.)
They'll also have contacts or the knowledge to clone your spare key and provide you with a replacement.

You dont know really, most cars are fine but some are fussy. A dedicated vauxhall tool may be your only option, they are available for little money these days.
