Hi,
I wish to install a 'Velux' type window into my loft roof and am wondering if there are other makes on the market; and also, if there are any particular things I should look out for. I have a conventional tiled roof. Also, would it be better to let the window manufacturer fit the window, or is this a job which a local builder can easily do (which to my mind should be quite easy and I would prefer).

Many thanks to anyone who can give me some advice on this subject. Antje.

Take a look at http://www.loftshop.co.uk/

Fitted a couple of their conservation windows last year, 1/3rd the price of Velux, easy to fit, maybe not quite such good a finish.

Builder or roofer should be able to do it, make sure the opening is trimmed correctly if any of the rafters are being cut.
