velux

hi there i have a large roof space which is well ventilated with plastics eaves vents between membrane, and a velux fitted about 15 yrs ago. the external roof structure is good and no apparent problems, such as broken tiles. i have noticed in really cold weather there are drops of water on the boards below the velux. it looks like condensation as I can see droplets on the metal brackets/fixings above, and to the left and right of the wooden velux frame. i am wondering whether i should solve this by using a can of foam insulation and fitting this gap. any suggestions appreciated and i attach some photos thanks

That's what happens in cold weather when you don't fit the bfx collars on your roof windows. Expanding foam should do the trick but it can get messy unless you have got some experience.
