Hi,

Could I get feedback from a plumber please?

Issue: When I flush my toilet, there is gurgling in the shower drain of the same bathroom (maybe even the sink, but it's visible in the shower area). I read already that this is caused by poor/lack of venting. AND: When i pour water into the shower drain, it goes to a level but after a while (some flushing, etc, the level drops to a very low level in the trap, and I get sewer odours entering. This takes about 48hours. I refurbished my property and a licensed plumber installed everything. Unfortunately, my bathroom is finished (tiling, etc) so I'm worried now.

The setup is as follows: The large stack pipe is about 3 metres away in the corner of a bedroom, and there is a soil pipe that runs under the floor to the bathroom. The sink, shower and toilet are connected to this one pipe.

Question: The large stack pipe runs up and down in the building (old georgian house), and my flat is on the 1st floor. Am I supposed to have a vent out the wall, or out the wall running up the outside of the building, just next to my toilet also? Or, do I just assume that the soil-stack pipe that runs up and down the building naturally is open on the top.

I hope my question makes sense.
