have a cooker located on an internal wall with a chimney style hood above. The extractor function can either be set to recirculating (with carbon grease filters) as it is now, or ducted. Problem is; the shortest run for ducting is 2.4 ms and I'm concerned that the fan may not have ehough umph! to work over this distance. Installation literature does not make any recommendations on this issue.

Wonder whether it would be best to stick with the current option of recirculating and installing a 4" standard extractor on the wall in addition to the recirculating hood???

It would also save on running unsightly ducting???

what would you do???

Just canvassing opinions really!!

If you utilise smooth bore extruded PVCu ductwork and seal all the joints properly your extractor will probably work well over the 2.4 metres, but it will clog up with congealed grease over time and need to be cleaned out - a very unpleasant task. If you use flexible hoses the extra flow resistance means it just won't work. If uou recirculate it will cost you a lot more taime/money to scrub/replace the filter regularly. You can always install a secondary extraction fan in the pipework with an induction switch worked off the hood fan, you know. bathroom extractor kits for this are available for under twenty quid
