Veritas alarm problem.

I have an issue with the control panel. The green unset light is on. Zone 5 red light is on, and zone 4 red light is flashing. Zone 5 is landing sensor and 4 is hall way. All sensors detect movement.
I am not able to set the alarm, reset it, and just get bleeps when pressing keypad.
Any ideas?

faulty battery ...power cut / surge locked out panel ...probably
Down power , repower mains only , if ok replace battery if more than 5 years old

How often should they be replaced? I replaced mine around this time last year I think.

5 years norm ....hot area 2-3

Every 4 to 5yrs unless found to be faulty on the way to year 5
