Am looking at buying a vertical rad at 6ft for our newly built conservatory, but am lost as to what output the radiator needs in relation to the BTU. The conservatory is 21mtrs square by 2.5mtrs at its highest "hipped roof". Doe s anyone know of a formula or can someone tell me please what output I should be looking for :?:

Thank you very mcuch "much"

google radiator calculator and work it from there..... there are some fancy programs that do it for you that saves our old brains!!!

Don't forget that a conservatory cannot be treated as a normal room, the five wall or glass roof will retain very little heat

A conservatory is not supposed to be heated unless planning and BC involved. Never heard of one being torn down though!

Please entertain me for a second, this conservatory wasn't done under BC, didn't have to be "thank god", but my actual question is, why shouldn't you put a rad in a conservatory?

under the Building Regulations 1991 (as amended). These criteria must be met for a conservatory extension to be classified as exempt:

a) The extension has a completely transparent or translucent roof.
b) The extension walls are substantially glazed. Must have at least half the area of the walls formed of windows. Must have at least three quarters of the area of the roof formed of glazing, polycarbonate sheets or similar translucent material.
c) The extension has a floor area not exceeding 30m squared.
d) The extension is sited at ground level.
e) The extension is permanently separated from the remainder of the property by means of a door.
f) Any radiator within the conservatory is controllable. (If fixed heating installations are proposed, they should have their own separate temperature and on/off controls).
g) The glazing satisfies the requirements of part N, Schedule 1 (toughened/safety glass).
h) The extension does not contain any drainage facilities. (i.e. sink, WC, or washing machine)

you can have heating but it must be controled seperate to your house heating. it's own wall stat etc.

Thank you, just aswell we meet all the criteria, including seperate thermostat, cheers
