Hi im new to the forum and i have a problem.

I have a 1995 Ford escort (UK)which has up til now been completly reliable and trouble free.

The problem i have is a heavy engine vibration under high rev acceleration felt in cock pit which can make the interior mirror vibrate and steering wheel vibrate lightly and make cds jump :D . There is no obvious performance reduction just the annoyance of the noise.

the car is fine sitting idling (almost silent) The vibration manifests itself under load,

EG: Alot and heavy and very loud accelerating in 1st Gear,

2nd Gear is less annoying but still very bad and very loud inside the car,

3rd Gear still pretty bad but bearable,

4th Gear less and alot quieter

5th Gear on motorways etc its almost non existant until reaching above 80/90 then its only very slight.

the vibration is non existant on low revs,

I have checked the exhaust and its not leaking at all, Its almost brand new!! the plugs and oil and filters and leads are not long changed. So none of these are a problem.Wheel balancing was also done a few months ago.
I did notice that there is alot of black oil residue on the transmission beneath the car, if the transmisson is low on oil will this cause the problem?

What is causing the problem people?

thanks for reading post, And thanks alot for any advice you can offer.

Ps i dont really want to go to a mechanic and pay their charges as im going to china soon and wont have the car much longer but i do alot of driving and the annoyance is killing me. But i will pass the car on to a friend, preferably without the vibration !!

Thanks again Jim
