Hi,

I've recently had an internal door dipped and stripped and have purchased some new door furniture to fit. Unfortunately the door has a large hole in it where the previous latch was fitted. The latch I have purchased and want to fit is much smaller so wanted some advice on how to fill the gap so I can re-cut the smaller space for the new latch. Would Wood Filler work?

I've attached some pictures below for clarity. Any advice is gratefully received.
