Hi, i am going to be attempting to lay some vinyl tile in our bathroom, is it ok to lay direct onto floorboards or do i need some sort of underlay - ply board or something like that?

Is only going to be used for a year or so before the bathroom is completley redone!

Thanks in advance!

If you lay direct on to the boards, you will see evey grain & join. Lay hardboard. You need to fix it at about 12" intervals.

You will probably get pro advise in a few minutes

I would reccomend thin marine plywood for a bathroom if it is individual tiles. Water will get between tiles and hardboard will soften or expand when wet. amrine ply is stable when wet.
