Visonic Powermax DE5450U Mains power

Hi,

I purchased a second hand system on ebay, and I'm surprised to find that it doesn't use a standard jack style mains adapter to power it. It's got terminal connectors. In my simple mind, can I just buy a 9v 0.7a ac adapter (as it didn't come with one) and cut the jack off to wire it? If so, does it matter which wire goes in which terminal? Diagram from installer manual (attached) isn't clear.

The supply is 9V AC. So it does not matter which way round you connect the wires.
