please, could anyone advise me on the following .I am looking to install a Visonics Powermax express alarm myself and would like to know if I can simply plug the main control unit into a 13amp socket.

Not the correct way as you or someone can easily unplug the unit

Unswitched fuse spur Not switched

Do you mean taking the fused spur off the ring main ?
Yes thats ok
You will need 2.5mm T&E to connect to ring main
